Biography of Dr. Lenard C. Johnson, Senior Pastor
For the past 29 years, Dr. Lenard C. Johnson has served as the Senior Pastor of the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Delray Beach, Florida. He is a native of the Palm Beaches, born in the City of West Palm Beach, just 20 minutes north of Delray Beach. Since 1983, Pastor “(L.C.) as he is affectionately known by many of his peers in ministry, has led Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church the last quarter of its One Hundred Eleven Years. During this time, he brought about many new changes of growth and developments to the church and community. The church as enhanced its services of worship, we have focused on areas such as; a more systematic Bible Study, Christian Education Programs for leaders, men, women, youth, children, seniors, singles, married couples, and prison ministries.
Dr. Johnson is a well known social-conscious Preacher on the local, state and national level. Since at an early age, Dr. Johnson has been very active and involved in the work of the church. He was licensed to preach and ordained to the Christian ministry at the New Bethel Baptist Church in West Palm Beach under the tutelage of the late Dr. D.N. Conner, his Pastor. It was at New Bethel and during High School that he met and married his wife Gwendolyn C. Williams and the mother of their two children; Shundra, Anthony and granddaughter Lauren.
Dr. Johnson graduated from the public schools in Palm Beach County, and furthered his studies from Bethune-Cookman College in Religion and Philosophy. He earned a Master of Arts in Theology from United Seminary, Masters of Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity. Doctorate of Theology from the Lexington University. He also received a Honorary Doctorate Degree of Divinity from Bethune-Cookman College.
While in Seminary, Dr. Johnson was chosen as one of Who’s Who in America. He has attended the Hampton Ministers Conference in Hampton Virginia for more than 20 years. He has been blessed to preach and teach from many great pulpits, lectured in conferences, taught seminary classes, served as officer and member of The Baptist Association, Congresses of Christian Education, State Convention, National Convention and a Vice President Board Member of the Hampton Ministers Conference. Among the gifts and talents which God has blessed Pastor Johnson, none are more meaningful and moving to him than preaching and teaching!
